“Perhaps. I’m not withholding any key information from you, Emma. There are simply just matters I’ve been tending to as of late that I don’t believe you or the others need to know.”
“No. Completely out of the question. I promised Charles I would keep her safe, I intend to make good on that promise. I owe him that much, at least…”
“Besides, Raven’s control and utilization of her powers has become truly impressive over the last few months. She’s become a formidable fighter. Even you must see that…”
“So, shall I take this to mean that you will /not/, in fact, be keeping watch this evening?”
“I’m not watching your pets anymore. I’m going with you.”
“No. I need someone level-headed keeping an eye on things while I’m gone; someone who, for all intents and purposes, I can trust.”
“That narrows it down to you and Raven, and, as I’m sure you’re well aware by now, Raven isn’t exactly in the proper emotional state to handle such responsibility at the moment. She’s been through a great deal as of late, she needs time to cope.”

“Fair enough. There’s been a distinct lull of activity around here. Raven appears to have caught a cold and the others are…elsewhere. I assumed they’d return in time, but perhaps you can help me confirm my increasing suspicions that they will not, in fact, be returning?”
“Raven cause a cold with her ‘tough as nails’ immune system? But the others are probably preparing for Halloween or something.”
“‘Halloween’…” Erik grumbled. “For aspiring revolutionaries, they’ve been acting quite a bit like children as of late…thank goodness I’ve got you and Raven to actually help accomplish the Brotherhood’s goals, or else I suspect I’d go mad…”
